Custom infinity pool with waterfall features in Northern Utah
Swimming Pool Design & Installation

Northern Utah's Custom Pool Builder Since 2004

From first sketch to first swim, Premier Landscapes designs and builds custom inground pools across the Wasatch Front. Concrete, gunite, fiberglass, infinity edges, and pool-spa combos — engineered for Utah's climate and built to last generations.

More Than a Pool — A Complete Backyard Transformation

A pool is the centerpiece of your backyard, but it shouldn't feel like an isolated object dropped into the lawn. At Premier Landscapes we design pools alongside the decking, landscaping, lighting, and hardscape that surround them — so the finished space feels like one cohesive retreat, not a construction zone stitched together by three different contractors.

Troy Christopulos founded Premier in 2004 and has been building pools across Davis, Salt Lake, Weber, and Summit counties ever since. We know Utah soil, Utah winters, and what it takes to build a pool that still looks incredible 20 years from now.

Pool Types We Build

Every pool we build is custom-designed around your property, your lifestyle, and your budget. Here are the most popular options for Northern Utah homeowners.

Concrete & Gunite Pools

Fully custom shapes, sizes, and depths built to last generations. Concrete and gunite are the gold standard for premium backyard pools in Utah and can be engineered for any property, including sloped lots common across the Wasatch Front.

  • Unlimited design flexibility
  • Custom tanning ledges and benches
  • Integrated spa and water features
  • Diving boards and slide platforms
  • Lifetime structural durability

Fiberglass Pools

Pre-molded fiberglass pools install faster and require less ongoing chemical maintenance than concrete. Ideal for homeowners who want a beautiful pool with a shorter build timeline and lower long-term upkeep.

  • Faster installation (2–4 weeks)
  • Smooth, algae-resistant surface
  • Lower chemical and maintenance costs
  • Excellent in Utah freeze-thaw climate
  • Built-in steps, benches, and tanning ledges

Infinity & Negative Edge Pools

Create a dramatic visual effect with a pool that appears to spill off into the horizon. Infinity edges are especially stunning on elevated lots in Park City, the East Bench, and the foothills overlooking the Salt Lake Valley.

  • Single, double, or wraparound edges
  • Perfect for hillside and view lots
  • Custom catch basin and pump engineering
  • Integrated landscape sightlines
  • Dramatic photo-ready focal points

Pool & Spa Combos

The most popular choice for Utah homeowners. A combined pool and attached spa gives you year-round enjoyment — a relaxing soak in winter, a full swim in summer — all from one integrated design.

  • Shared equipment saves cost and space
  • Year-round hot tub usability
  • Spillover spa water features
  • Heated spa with separate temperature control
  • Seamless design continuity

Natural & Lagoon Pools

Blend your pool into the landscape with organic shapes, natural stone coping, waterfalls, and dense planting. A favorite for properties that want a resort feel rather than a formal geometric pool.

  • Freeform organic shapes
  • Natural boulder and flagstone coping
  • Integrated waterfalls and streams
  • Lush planting and privacy screening
  • Beach-entry and zero-edge options

Pool Deck & Hardscaping

A pool is only as good as what surrounds it. We design and install complete pool decks, patios, outdoor kitchens, pergolas, and fire features so the entire space works as one cohesive backyard retreat.

  • Stamped concrete, pavers, and flagstone
  • Outdoor kitchens and BBQ islands
  • Fire pits and fireplaces
  • Pergolas and shade structures
  • Landscape lighting for nighttime use

Our Pool Build Process

A custom pool is a 3–4 month project. Here's exactly what to expect, from first consultation to first swim.

01

Design Consultation

We meet at your property to understand your vision, budget, and how you'll use the pool. We walk the site, discuss sun exposure, slope, existing landscaping, and view corridors.

02

3D Design & Proposal

Our design team creates a custom 3D rendering of your pool and surrounding landscape so you can see exactly what you're getting before construction starts. We provide a detailed proposal with transparent pricing.

03

Permitting & Engineering

We handle all city permits, engineering, and HOA approvals. Utah soil conditions, winter freeze, and setback requirements all factor into engineered plans we submit on your behalf.

04

Excavation & Structure

Excavation typically takes 1–3 days depending on pool size and access. For concrete pools, we shoot the gunite shell and cure it. For fiberglass, we carefully place and level the pre-formed shell.

05

Plumbing, Electrical & Tile

Plumbing lines, pump and filter systems, pool lighting, heaters, and automation are installed. For concrete pools, tile and coping go on next. This phase typically takes 2–4 weeks.

06

Deck, Landscape & Finish

Pool deck, patio, landscaping, lighting, and any hardscape features are completed. We fill, balance, and startup the pool, and walk you through operation and maintenance before handing it over.

Swimming Pool FAQs

Answers to the questions we hear most often from Northern Utah homeowners considering a pool.

How much does a custom inground pool cost in Utah?

Custom inground pool costs in Northern Utah typically range from $60,000 to $150,000+ depending on size, shape, materials, and features. A standard gunite pool with basic decking starts around $75,000–$95,000. Pools with spa combos, infinity edges, custom water features, and premium decking can run $120,000–$200,000 or more. We provide transparent, detailed proposals after an on-site consultation so you know exactly what's included.

How long does it take to build a pool in Utah?

A typical custom gunite pool build in Utah takes 10–16 weeks from excavation to completion, depending on weather, permit timelines, and project scope. Fiberglass pools install faster — often 4–8 weeks. We recommend starting the design and permitting process 3–6 months before you want to be swimming, and many homeowners begin planning in fall or winter so construction can start as soon as the ground thaws in spring.

What's the best type of pool for Utah's climate?

All three major pool types — concrete/gunite, fiberglass, and vinyl — work in Utah, but concrete and fiberglass are the most popular because they handle freeze-thaw cycles best when installed correctly. Concrete/gunite gives you unlimited design flexibility and the longest lifespan. Fiberglass installs faster and has lower ongoing maintenance. We'll walk through the trade-offs during your consultation and help you choose based on your site, budget, and priorities.

Do I need a permit to build a pool in Northern Utah?

Yes. Every city in Northern Utah requires building permits for inground pools, and many also require electrical, plumbing, and fence permits. Setback requirements, pool barrier codes, and HOA approvals vary by city. Premier Landscapes handles all permitting and engineering on your behalf — you don't need to coordinate anything with the city yourself.

Can I heat my pool in Utah for year-round use?

Yes. Pool heaters (gas, electric heat pump, or solar) are standard on most Utah pool builds and extend the swim season from roughly April through October. For year-round hot water use, we recommend an attached spa with its own heater — you can keep the spa at 102°F year-round while leaving the main pool unheated or set lower. Automatic pool covers are also a smart investment for heat retention and safety.

Where in Northern Utah do you build pools?

We build pools throughout Davis County (Layton, Kaysville, Farmington, Bountiful, Centerville, Clearfield, Syracuse), Weber County (Ogden, North Ogden, South Ogden, Roy), Salt Lake County (Salt Lake City, Sandy, Draper, Murray), and Summit County (Park City). Our shop is based in Layton, so the entire Wasatch Front is within our standard service area.

What ongoing maintenance do pools need in Utah?

Utah pools need weekly maintenance during swim season (April–October) — chemical balancing, skimming, vacuuming, and filter cleaning — and must be professionally winterized before the first hard freeze (typically late October). Premier offers full-service pool maintenance and winterization programs, or we can train you to handle it yourself and just come out for seasonal opening and closing.

Do you build pools on sloped or hillside lots?

Yes, and Northern Utah has a lot of them. Sloped lots in the East Bench, Park City, and foothill neighborhoods often require engineered retaining walls, additional excavation, and structural considerations — but they also create opportunities for stunning infinity edges, view corridors, and multi-level pool decks. We've built dozens of pools on challenging hillside sites over the past 20 years.
